The city of Bistrita is the residence of Bistrita – Nasaud county located in the North-West of Transylvania plateau, in the depression of Bistrita, counting a population of 75.076 inhabitants. The city is crossed by Bistrita River, it is surrounded by hills covered with large orchards and has a surface of 145,47 km² together with its 6 aggregated localities. Bistrita is at about 120 km from Cluj – Napoca which is a very important universitary city.
